His knowledge of the Indian languages also comes through in that he explains the kinds of mistakes a Hindi speaker would make vis-a-vis someone whose mother tongue is Malayalam.

It’s rather ironic that a book that reflects the author’s sanayl regarding ‘Indian English’ and his attempts to correct the abnormalities bequeathed by the British Raj should be edited by someone else-and a Brit at that! Rajesh Sadashivan rated it liked it Oct 26, Sqnyal specifically liked the chapters on the use and abuse of the words ‘also’, ‘both’ and ‘only’, but the overall tone that drips with needless acid grates on you after a while. He lists out the many cliches, outdated expressions, indianisms and inaccuracies that characterise Indian English, and gives alternatives.
